Making A Pumpkin Softie

The children are really taking to sewing, so I thought I would whip up something else for them to keep those hands busy. This pumpkin softie was quick and easy. I used felt and sewing glue to make the bottom end, stem and leaves. The circle metal inset came in handy to make the shape. This is how I set it up.

When the child chooses this work they place the pumpkin parts (the front and the back circle pieces) on the clear tray along with the needle and thread to their work space.

When they have sewn the pumpkin halfway they may go get a bag filled with stuffing, and the stuffing tool to fill the pumpkin. After they have stuffed their pumpkin, they return the unused stuffing or empty baggie back to the basket with the stuffing tool. Then they finish sewing the rest, when finish return the needle to the tray.

The Stuffing tool will be a new point of interest with this work.

  1. I love how you've set this up for the children - the individual bags of stuffing with the tool is such a great idea! The kids must be enjoying this...! Thanks for sharing! Sasha
