D is For Dreidel:Montessori Monday

I love this time of year, it allows me to be more creative in coming up with ideas to celebrate our differences. Celebrating our uniqueness, and our different cultures helps cultivate awareness, self respect and undoubtedly a more peaceful world. This week we will focus on Hanukkah and the different ways that it is celebrated.

I found this book that is just perfect for the preschoolers.

I put together the symbols on the Dreidel to make a matching object to picture work.

                    Three part cards.

We will play the game of Dreidel, this will help them understand that, hey=half(Take half of the tokens.) gimel=everything(Take all the tokens in the cup.) nun=nothing(Lose a turn.) shin=put in(Put in another token.)

Here are the contents that will be kept in the bag.
The tokens wil be placed inside the bag.

They also will have the opportunity to make a paper Dreidel to take home.

I am also linking to the Preschool Corner hosted by Homeschool Creations, and the TGIF Linky Party at Living Life Intentionally.

Cassie, I made the three part cards from being a member of Evan Moor teacherbox files. It is in their December Celebrations download if you are not a member. I just printed two sets and cut the words off the second set. Glad you like them. The kiddos here have used them a lot, your girls probably would enjoy this work.
