I Am In LOVE With.......Magnetic Paper!

While browsing through Hobby Lobby I discovered that they sold magnetic paper that you can use right in your printer. The cost was $6.99 for three sheets a bit much but I decided to give it a try. I am so glad I did!! I made a magnetic set to go along with the poem Five Three Monkeys Sitting In The Tree for the toddlers. By the way the toddlers aren't really toddlers anymore in fact the all will be three by October. They all have been showing interest in counting so I thought we would start out our Math scope and sequence with counting poems first.

 The printables came from the blog Oopsey Daisy in the Z is for Zoo Mommy Packet.

The toddlesrs? also have been having fun sizing up these cute nesting monkeys and practicing their open and closing skills.

                                                                          

Canada Day

Once a month DJ receives a country to study from Highlights it is in the Top Secret Adventures Club. He enjoys waiting on the arrival in the mail, and quickly gets to the work. This time the country was Canada, I quickly hid it from him because I wanted to surprise him. I had forgotten it had came until Friday he let me know that he knew it was Canada Day. DJ was pleased when I showed him his package and of course he got busy.

 The monthly kit comes with a book about the country, a puzzle, and an activity guide.

 In order to solve the clues you have to put the puzzle together first.

 This book club is a must have for geography lovers like DJ. Also the materials have been awesome to add to our continent boxes.

PInwheels

Yesterday I gave a group of children a lesson in pinwheel making, it was truly a exciting time for them as they were very focused and loved the outcome. During the process I was able to learn more about the children. They are really visual and tactile learners. For most of them it was the first time making a pinwheel. Frustration was shown at times and I am learning to be able to leave the child alone to work it out. I am so glad I did yesterday during a couple of moans, they were happy to say "I did it, I did it all by myself!"

  All done! The picture of the steps of the pinwheel was used by all. They really appreciated the step by step picture directions.

Montessori On A Budget Post #2

Hobby Lobby had another pleased customer two weeks ago. I managed to find a few works each tray only cost me two dollars.

                                                   Making Pinwheels

 Love this work it offers practice in folding, and hand eye coordination. Two dollars at Hobby Lobby for a package of eight.

The White Belt

My kids had their first Taekwondo class this week. They are really loving it and looking forward to going three times a week. The first class was not brand new to me. When I first started doing daycare in my home nine years ago my preschoolers, schoolagers and I participated in Taekwondo long enough to earn our yellow belts. Transportation was an issue so we had to stop. My children were excited to wear their new uniforms, and wear their white belts. The White belt is given to students who are not knowledgeable of Taekwondo, so the color white symbolizes innocence. They loved learning to count to four in korean, how to enter the room, and learning some new moves. Here are some pictures.

 They are now wanting to know more about the the Korean culture. I have a request to make Korean counting cards. They want to be able to count in Korean so they can still practice correctly at home. Does anyone know if the counting cards are already avaliable on the internet? The help will be greatly appreciated!!
