Montessori Monday

This past week was very interesting. It was clear early on that the preschoolers were missing the schoolagers. They became very comfortable over the summer months with their companionship. The classroom was very different it wasn't as if it was quiet and still just different. Jamesha wanted to know where her coloring buddy Michelle was, I told her she had to leave for school today. Jamesha said "This is school". I said "Yes, this is school, but Michelle is going to leave for school now". Jamesha was glowing when Michelle came back from school Tuesday. We were outside but she still wanted to go get the crayons and color with Michelle. I love the friendship that grows with the children it is wonderful to observe and I fall back in love with the montessori method everytime the olders take on the role of a guide in the classroom.

Not many pictures the olders in the classroom are just getting their feet warmed up so I am not able to take as many pictures. I am needed much more now as we are establishing routines and keeping order.

                                                               Practical Life
                                                                          Wet pouring.
Working with Zipper Dressing Frame. Dre repeated this often, he would wait patiently if he needed any help to get restarted.

Lil slicing cheese for snack. I presented this to her, after that she didn't want my help. I never saw cheese in so many different shapes before (lol). It tasted real good though.

                                                                              Focused !!
Ken to the rescue!

Working with "Name Tray". Dre is looking through the pictures and saying who they are. The bottom of the pictures have been cut off to match the picture with the name.

Working with Chicka Chicka Boom Boom puzzle.

                                                           N naming Number Rods 1, 2, and 3.

DJ kept asking to work with the 1000 Chain. I shared with him how this is a huge work. DJ begged and I gave him the go. Here he is with help from his sisters.

DJ has been working on this work as often as he can. DJ says "I will have the 1000 Chain mastered by next week, just give me some time". You have all the time you need kiddo.

To see others learning using the montessori method pop over to One Hook Wonder.
